Night Bus Infatuation

A piece I wrote about something that happens to everyone that lives in a city with a decent public transport system. Temporarily falling in love with strangers on the bus, tube, metro, subway, tram, whatever your city has. At least I think this happens to everyone... either that, or I'm really, really sad.

Bank holiday Monday, 2:54 a, 134, Camden Town. Camden's never been my favourite part of my favourite city, it's always been a bit of a tourist trap, full of fake Black Flag t-shirts and really bad weed, but I see how there's nowhere else like it in the world.
I was sobering up, from the night's cheap cider and vodka shots. As usual, the bus was full of good-looking, well-dressed trendy types, sure to lower your self esteem. I was zoned out, thinking about nothing, until his eyes caught mine. They were a sapphire shade, a dark blue. His strong veiny arms were covered in tattoos, which in turn were covered by a plain grey t shirt and a rolled up denim jacket, which contrasted the chinos and torn up Converses on his feet. I looked back up at his face, and noticed his ebony hair, which seemed to glitter in the light. I quickly looked away, hoping he hadn't seen me, but it was too late. Much to my surprise, he looked at me, his lips baring a smirk, which actually turned into a  full blown smile! Would you believe it? I was embarrassed, but couldn't help but smile back.

Frankly Mr. Shankly

Fame fame fatal fame, it can play hideous tricks on the brain,
But still I'd rather be famous, than righteous or holy,
Anyday, anyday, anyday.

Hurts.

Failure by Design

"When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams." - Dr Seuss

Science says after 3 years in a relationship, your restores to normal levels of Oxytocin, the chemical that makes us feel we're in love.  Oxytocin is the chemical in MDMA that produces the feelings of infatuation. Science says love is just a chemical reaction, love is just a drug.

I think it's best if we never find out if this is completely true.  It would change the fabric of society as we know it.

Would the things that we as humans enjoy that are the product of love have less value?
Music, literature, poetry, art, film, romance, sex.

Probably not, but there are some things humans just aren't meant to know.

The Return of the Insignificant

Fuck this, I'm back. I'm back on Blogger.

I'm eagerly awaiting Summer. Happy days, freedom, photos, fucked up sleeping patterns, fun, books and booze. What makes us happy, and what we're all living for.
